Do You Think Don Imus Should Be Silenced?

Q: Do You Think Don Imus Should Have Been Silenced?
A: I think Don Imus should think really hard of what he said because he made lots of controversy between people. Don Imus made himself seem as if was racist like thats something that you keep in your mind or shouldn't even think something so horrible . I really don't understand how can you make a remark like that on the radio, don't you even think about other people's feelings. I really don't think that he should be censored but he should not be aloud to talk ton the radio for a while.
The reason that I think that he should not be censored is because there's everyday shows that have racism that is worst than what he said every day, so it wouldn't be fare to censor him and we not censor other shows like for example south park that show uses curse word's and racism all the time. Some people think that it was alright what he said, they think that he should have said it , but if you think about it you have top think about all the kids and their probably thinking that since a grown up sad it then we can say it to but it's not okay for little kid to be walking around calling African American girls "Little Black Hoe's". That can influence lots of children.

Don Imus saying that bad remark brings up so many other conflicks like for example the "N" word, the word that most African American people use. African Americans use this word everywhere in music and, also just to say whats up. Well to conclude this Don Imus should be off be silenced for a while .

Farenheit 451 pg.91-110

Give a very short (1-3 sentence) summary of the two main scenes in this section. The first scence was at home in the living room and the second scene was in the fire house with Beatty.

The first scene was in the living room: Mildred and her friends were sitting in the living room watching "The White Clown" in the parlor. Guy pulls the power and all of the women get scared. They start talking about the war and politics, and the women started being very conceited about their husbands, children and Guy gets angry. Montag reads them poetry from a book and one of the women begins to cry and then says that she is never coming back to their house again.

The second scene was in the fire house with beatty: Montag returns to the fire-house and the men are playing poker. Beatty welcomed him back, saying he is glad he is over his sickness. Beatty begins to mess tourment Montag with a dream he had, explaining that they were throwing literary terms at each other and that everytime Montag would use something clever from a book, Beatty would frustrate him back it with something that contradicted what he said from the same book. Then there is an alarm, and when they arrive at the house, it is Montags.

1) Find a sentence or two that has strong adjectives and/or verbs. Quote the book and explain why these are strong descriptive words and why they are effective. How do they appeal to the senses? What mental images do they invoke?

Fahrenheit 451 p.81-91

I really didnt have any questions about this section although it was hard to understand the writing because there were many words that I didnt understand, but I used my dictionary.

Question: B. Faber jokingly proposes a plan of action and then starts to discuss it seriously with Montag. What is the plan of action? More importantly, why does he say it won’t work? Analyze his answer. Why won't it work?

Ansew: I think that the plan of action is to take a lot of books and place them in the different firehouse places, then turn in an alarm and have the firehouses burned. It would be really hard because they would have to be close friends or hooked up or somthing like that, the hardest part is getting pass the mechanical hound.

Fahrenheit 451 p.71-80

A. What does Montag mean when he says that books "point, one way or another, to Clarisse?"

Im not really sure what this means, but I have an idea that it might mean that clarisse thinks of books differently she really goes deep in side the book and reads between the lines so, im not sure what it's really meaning but maybe it's meaning that clarisse either likes the books or she dosent.

Descriptive Writing Assignment

1. Find a scene in Fahrenheit 451 that had characters who were afraid. It can be any scene, like the one where Montag and the other firemen burned the old lady’s books (like you did for yesterday’s assignment.
2. Take one of the characters in the scene and rewrite it (or something similar) from that person’s perspective. For example, if you go with the old lady I mentioned above you could start with something like, “I heard the wail of the fire engines and the screeching of the tires. My heart stopped like a dead weight because it could only mean one thing: They arrived! My books will be destroyed …..”

He brung it closer and closer until the point it was like staring at me face to face opend it and began to read all these terible words out of some book called "Dover Beach" by Matthew Arnold completley inturupting during my conversation about my third husband that has been sent off to war. Him reading that poem made me reveal supressed feelings and sensibilities.

Fahenheit 451- pg.21- 40

What do you find confusing? What is something that you dont understand?: I think that the fact that they have workers that burn books is very confusing because why would you have people or (the hound) put morphine in someone to kill them for reading books, I dont understand that.
Maybe montag thinks Clarisse acts more older than Mildred because he talks to Clarisse about personal subjects and he dosent talk to Mildred about those things, maybe he's not use to talking to someone with a lot of knowledge and thoughts. Mildred is really slow she dosent comprehend as fast as others, her thoughts dont come as fast as they should.
The author shows this in the book because Montag and Mildred dont talk that much.
The people in the story are really different from the people today because the dont talk to each other that much their really indivisual, not really together.
